Engagement/ Participation refers to how you engaged you are with the process of designing and drafting. You are expected to arrive o the drafting and design room with an open mind and natural curiosity, to engage with the material and techniques presented to you and to give your best effort to every project and design challenge
Sketchbook practice and idea recording is essential to developing as a designer, you are expected to work independently in your sketchbook on a weekly basis, you should be practicing techniques learned in class to improve your skills, or exploring an aspect of design that is of interest to you.
Projects are assigned each term and must be submitted for assessment within that term to arrive at your grade. Projects will be discussed and decided upon between yourself and your instructor. Sometimes you may be working on something unique that require alternative deadlines. Whole class projects should adhere to the teachers due dates, and you should make arrangements if you are unable to complete your projects by the assigned date.
Assessment and Evaluation Each student is assessed as an individual. We begin the year with individual conferences to establish the artistic goals of each student, then move through a program of study and practice that grows and develops those skills. Class exercises, sketchbook work, and projects are reviewed informally for students learning and then formally during class critiques and using assign criteria. Sketchbook is an important record of students growth and engagement with their practice. Ideally, a minimum of one hour per week outside of class is recommended for students’ exploration, experimentation and skill development.
